On 12 May 2022, we found a tiny bundle of life thrown carelessly in a garbage bin.
Despite being over capacity, and focusing on adoptions so that we can resume rescuing, we just couldn't turn away this little boy. He was just 3 to 4 days old. What kind of monster does that? We called him Artie, and the staff worked tirelessly feeding him regularly, keeping him warm, and letting him know he was not alone
We helped him with his wee and poo, something all puppies have help from their mothers with, and had hopes he would continue to develop and grow strong.
He was still so young in these pictures taken outside in the sunshine, his eyes still were not open. Despite our best efforts, it was not enough - he was taken from his mother too soon, and few puppies survive such a separation long. Artie left us on 21 May 2022, but in his short time he left a big impression. We tried our best, but sometimes there's just no substitute for a mother's love.
