Be a Local Hero
We can't take care of every dog, but you may be able to help a dog in need in your own neighborhood.
Simply feeding and watering a dog, or supplying inexpensive medicines can transform a dog's life.
Scroll down to find out how you can be a Local Hero!
We want to help every animal in need, but that is just not possible. We can only help rescue dogs in the most SEVERE and life-threatening situations. If you see an animal in need please consider what you are willing to do to help first.
The good news though is that many times, the ability to help is in your hands!
WHAT YOU CAN DO!
FEED THEM
Leftover rice, cooked kitchen scraps (no bones), or some simple dry dog food (usually no more than 80-90 pesos per kilo from local shops) once a day can make a real difference. Many of our local sponsors and volunteers regularly feed "strays" who belong to nobody but have a fine life despite not being "owned"!
LOOK AFTER THEM
Provide a temporary, or permanent home for the dog(s), especially puppies. We hope to offer veterinary services soon, but there are a number of Vet Services in Dumaguete that can provide low-cost assistance with vaccinations, care and neutering / spaying when appropriate.
provide treatment
When a dog has lost most or all Aof its hair, and has very dry skin, it is likely to be suffering from Mange, which is treatable with just one tablet of Nexgard (around 500-700 pesos). Nexgard is also an excellent treatment for ticks, fleas and mites. Message us or email info@dumagueteanimalsanctuary.com for advice.
