Love was one of the first residents at the shelter.
She was originally reported to us in Feb 2019 by a spanish tourist - Martika Ramos - who was on holiday in Siquijor - a neighbouring island. Love was in a terrible state - very sick with terrible mange. See the pictures below.
Martika gave up her 3 week holiday to care for Love - taking her to the vet on Siquijor every few days to treat her mange. As the time approached for Matika to go back to Spain - she didn't want to leave love behind to a certain death of starvation. She reached out to us and we tried hard to find someone to foster Love but because of her contagious mange - no one wanted to. Our shelter was not open at this time so it looked like Martika would have to leave her behind.
At the last minute - almost literally! a wonderful lady called Marifel stepped up and offered to look after Love here in Dauin.
Love then spent the next few months in foster care.
Here she is in her foster home with Martika before she left to go back to Spain. Love was already looking better!
Martika is now in the process of trying to get Love back to spain - navigating all the red tape to do so. Hopefully Love will be our first overseas adoption!!!
