Chance

Chance
Picked up outside Bacong 7-11 on 10 December 2021, Chance was a little stray puppy, suffering from mange, poor nutrition but most obviously carrying a huge swelling on her right hind leg that was making it difficult to walk or sit. Corri and Jonathan, two of our volunteers bought her in for treatment and rehab, hopefully to restart her young life in a better condition.
Chance's Story
Chance was rescued on 10 December 2021 outside the 7-11 store in Bacong, not far from the Sanctuary. She was friendly and easily approached, but found walking and sitting difficult because of the large, soft swelling on her belly and leg. It was clear she couldn't be left, so Corri and Jonathan packed her in an empty cardboard box and bought her in.

It looked as though the swelling was an abscess, possibly from a bite or wound that had become infected. She also had Mange and was underweight, although she had enough of an appetite to finish off a tin of corned beef, which was encouraging!
She underwent surgery, and to our horror, it became clear that the bulge was her stomach and intestines that had shifted horribly out of position. It's not clear how this injury could have happened. The surgery went well, but it was a difficult procedure. Over time, she put on weight and gained even more character, if that was even possible. She is now ready for some lucky person to bring her into their family.
