Elsa
Elsa was a rescue from the pound on February 14th 2020.
She spends most of her time in her favourite basket near the kitchen area.
She is very quiet, and has had to deal with a lot of ill health.

Elsa's Story
The City's Pound is clean and the dogs are looked after, but such is the problem with strays in Dumaguete that if they are not collected within 3 days, they will be euthanised. Elsa was one of 16 dogs DAS rescued at one go.
Elsa has always been very quiet. We honestly cannot remember seeing her play with other dogs or bark.

Elsa at the Pound
Not long after she came in we discovered she had cancer – TVT - so she had chemotherapy for 5 weeks to cure that. Then she had a persistent cough which we have tried to treat but keeps coming back.
More recently she had Erlichiosis – an illness that is very common here. It’s a tick borne bacteria that can be fatal if left untreated. It's very difficult to prevent as even if you use tick and flea treatments – the ticks still bite the dogs – they just don’t stay on them. Its treatable by antibiotics but Elsa is taking a while to recover. No doubt because her immune system was compromised.

Elsa
We have given her a full blood panel which indicated her organs are healthy and we take her blood every week – her platelets were low which happens with Erlichiosis.
She is a really sweet girl and is really responsive to being cuddled.

Elsa Adopted!

Elsa
Elsa one of our older dogs who has been at the shelter for two years got adopted by Mark, who adopted Jake a few months ago. With all adult dogs we allow a period of adjustment to see if they can adapt to their new home. Let's hope Elsa and Jake fall in love
