Holly
Rescued on 4 September 2021, Holly was pregnant, but had a hernia and would probably not survived the birth of, or care for her puppies. Her reporters had been feeding her, agreed to raise the puppies and pay for the surgery, something we hope more and more local people find the means to do.
Holly's Story
A pregnant stray being fed by some people in the area Holly was heavily pregnant but had a hernia. She was reported to us while back, but the reporters agreed to feed her, as the Sanctuary is stretched to capacity in terms of space and finances.

Holly when rescued
If she gave birth naturally she would have been in danger of complications and also would not be able to safely nurse her puppies. The only safe option is to do a c-section and then hand rear puppies, which the
reporters agreed to do, and pay for surgery.

Holly's surgery

More and more people are stepping up to help the strays here, which is fantastic as we just can't do it alone.
During surgery, Doc Pierre discovered that a suspicious lump was actually a marble, probably fired from a marble gun. No wonder she was afraid of people.

Sadly, Holly's puppies were not as advanced in development as we hoped, and they could not be revived. Holly survived the surgery and hopefully will make a full recovery.
