Nana
In April 2023 we got a report of a older stray dog being fed by a local community who had given birth, but her puppies didn't survive and she her abdomen had become extremely swollen. Many donations large and small made it possible for us to bring her in and treat her, and we hope she is now on the road to recovery.
Nana's Story
We went to pick her up afternoon and thought it very possible that either there were dead puppies inside or she had Pyometra, basically an infected uterus.
Doc Pierre came up to check her and put her on iv to make sure she is hydrated for her surgery. During the procedure, Pyometra was diagnosed, meaning she had a septic uterus and her abdomen was filled with fluid, with Doc Pierre drained - more than 7 kilos of fluid.
For a while she was in a critical condition, but we believe she's turned a corner towards recovery as her appetite had returned. We are keeping her under observation and hoping the worst is over for her.
