Poppy
Poppy was rescued as a mange-ridden, emaciated puppy of maybe just 4 weeks old. During her early foster care, she caught distemper and barely survived. During her second fostering, she bonded with another rescue, Pamela, and they are firm friends still.
Poppy has one of the gentlest natures of all our rescues, and would be a perfect addition to any family.

Poppy's Story
Poppy was rescued in July 2020 as a tiny, emaciated, mange-ridden puppy. We think she was around 3 months old at the time so estimated date of birth is May 2020.
She was so thin that we immediately sent her to foster care for fattening up but while she was there, she caught distemper.

The foster didn’t want to foster her any more and we couldn’t bring her back to the Sanctuary as Distemper is highly contagious. Luckily we found someone who took really good care of her and nursed her through her distemper.
After foster care she then went to live with Doc Riv for a few months until he left DAS and she had to come back.
While in foster care – she bonded tightly with Riv’s other foster Pamela and when they first came to the shelter they were inseparable. Here she is when she first came back from foster care.
Poppy is super friendly and gentle, but would really benefit being with her own human, as we don't want her to become too dependent on life at the Sanctuary.

Poppy Adopted! It had to happen sooner or later, and it’s a mystery to us why it’s taken so long for Poppy to find her permanent home, with Leo. One of the very first residents at the Sanctuary, she was mange-ridden starving puppy who grew into one of the most trusting and loving dogs here. You Click to see post….

Jonathan’s TribeAs well as great physical and mental exercise (for the walkers too!), taking dogs out on the lead outside the Sanctuary gets our rescues better prepared for that new life when they get adopted. Some dogs don’t need leads, and walk with us wherever we go. This is Jonathan’s tribe – every Wednesday he Click to see post….
