Anaya's Story
Rescued from the streets on 22 July 2022, Anaya was around 4-5 months old. She had just been hit by a car, and had a fractured leg, preventing her from getting up an moving off.
A day or so into her stay, she began to shake her head, and foam at the mouth. We have to always be vigilant for Rabies in new rescues as there is no cure for dogs or humans. All our staff and dogs are fully vaccinated against it but extreme care needs to be taken.
If it was Rabies, she would have started to become more aggressive and try to bite in a characteristic Rabies pattern. After a few days passed, she began to eat well and became much calmer. It's possible that she had head trauma which can present similar physical symptoms of head bobbing and movement. Each day that passes brings more hope that she will make a full recovery
