Brave

Brave
Rescued in November 2020 by one of our loyal supporters Cielo Miles, Brave was lying in the middle of the road about to be hit by a truck.
After an amazing recovery, he is now a healthy dog, and is the leader of the so-called "Unsociables", who defend their territory on the north side of the Sanctuary against all-comers, except maybe Tin Tin and Delfin!
Brave's Story
Brave was rescued on November 15th 2019 by one of our volunteers, Miles Cielo when he saw him hit by a motorbike crossing a busy road.

Brave when he arrived
There was a truck approaching which would have likely just run over him and crushed him so Miles ran into the road and scooped him up and took him to a vet on his motor bike. We initially thought Brave was paralysed as he didn’t move for a few days but it was just trauma as there was nothing actually physically wrong with him.

Brave still skinny but gaining weight
When we brought him to the shelter he was petrified and just stayed in a wooden kennel for a couple of months, not even mixing with the other dogs.

Brave
We think that he was abused before because he was so afraid of people. He would sit with his face turned to the back of the kennel when we approached him.

Brave
He slowly started mixing with other dogs and now is part of the pack that Fury is the matriarch of.
He often comes running out barking at anyone who goes near. He still doesn't like to be touched but allows people to approach.
He is a really healthy dog and has had no illnesses since he has been at the shelter.
He has now put on a good bit of weight – he has a look of a tiger!

Brave is one of the healthiest dogs in the shelter. He never seems to get sick.
Jonthan one of our volunteers is patiently working to get him more sociable and the other day he started touching my fingers with his nose!
We never bathe him as it is too traumatic for him yet he has amazingly healthy shiny fur. He is happy and healthy in his "Unsociables" pack.
There are distinct packs at the Sanctuary, with only a few dominant dogs like Delfin and TinTin allowed to move anywhere they like. Brave never ventures out of his territory, but he defends it with a passion!
