Iron
Iron was rescued in February 2020. He had be skewered by an iron bar and left to die.
He is around 4 years old, is very friendly, but still a little shy.
iron'S STORY
Someone had intentionally skewered Iron with a steel rod. By the time we found out about him, he had been lying there for a couple of days.
The rod was removed, along with all the ticks and fleas he was covered with.

Like many of the strays we rescue, he took a few months to settle and become sociable. Now he is super friendly to staff at the shelter but still a little wary of strangers who visit.
He absolutely loves puppies! When we have new puppies he likes to play very gently with them.
He is really healthy and rarely has any of the health issues the other dogs have.
We have some new volunteers at the shelter now so we are going to see if we can leash train him – and get him more used to strangers as this will make him more adoptable.

Iron has had a good month - no illnesses or injury whatsoever, and he is still as playful as always.
He is one of the healthiest dogs at the shelter as he never gets sick. He would be very adoptable if we could leash train him so we did attempt to this month but he fought hard against it. We will continue trying to do this slowly over the next month.
He just loves playing and loves people! Jonathan one of our volunteers spends a lot of time with him when he comes to the Sanctuary. We gave him a bath this week, which he doesn't need often as his fur is really healthy and shiny but we need to try and keep it that way. Here he is being carried for a bath!
He doesn't spend as much time with Hairy as he used to - though they still sleep in bowls next to each other. He has now started a friendship with Judy, but he still loves his bestie Hairy!
