A victim of a hit and run, Lady lay for three days before we got to her in February 2022. She is old, and was badly beaten up, but we are hopeful she'll be able to recover.
Rescued on 25 February 2022, according to the guard in the area, Lady was hit 3 days previously and has been lying there ever since. We were really way over our capacity of 120 dogs and were hesitant to rescue, but we couldn't leave her there out on the street to suffer a slow, painful death.
We first took her to Animal Wellness for x-rays and blood tests. She had a fractured pelvis and a broken leg. Her blood tests showed no organ damage, just inflammation. We will do laser therapy on her pelvic fracture for a few weeks as it worked wonders for Serena and Tinkerbelle.
Regarding her broken leg, Doc Pierre will decide whether he can make a cast or whether we have to amputate.
At the Sanctuary we did a she tested positive for Ehrlichia but negative for Distemper. All these tests added up, and we are grateful for the kind donations that allow this to happen. Because of her age, her recovery is slow, but we are hopeful of more donations to help towards the extensive costs of giving her the best chance possible.
