Lizzie

Lizzie after rescue
Rescued on 10 October 2021, Lizzie had just been run over, and was left to die in the middle of the road. She had a broken pelvis, and damaged lungs, but we hope in time she will recover. She is a very sweet-natured dog.
Lizzy's Story
Reported by Rudylyn, one of our vet assistants, Lizzie was rescued from the Bacong-Valencia highway following a hit-and-run. A group of people were standing watching the dog and no one even tried to get the dog into a safe place. As Rudylyn was trying to get the dog out of the middle of the road cars were beeping at her to move out of the way.
With our vet Doc Pierre on leave, Rina and our vet assistants administered first aid and oxygen, ran blood tests, provided pain medication, antibiotics and stitched her wounds. Initial blood test results didn't indicate internal bleeding but she was coughing up blood so we worried she might have a punctured lung. So we took her for x-rays, and discovered that her pelvis was fractured but it will heal on its own in a few weeks. Her internal organs have been affected by the vehicular impact and one lung is congested. We are still guarded about her prognosis but hopeful.
