Rescued giving birth prematurely, Mathilda eventually delivered 3 tiny puppies under our care on 20 February 2022. We hope she and her puppies will begin to thrive, and new homes will be found for her and her little ones.
Rescued on 20 February 2022, Mathilda had been beaten and run off, getting herself stuck between two walls where she began to give birth prematurely. Apparently the Fire Brigade went to get her out but were afraid to move her as they didn't want to cause her more stress.
We managed to get her out, discovering two tiny puppies who were already dead. We rushed her back to the Sanctuary, and delivered 5 more puppies, of which 3 have so far survived. We used our ultrasound to make sure there were no more puppies left inside.
Mathilda was understandably stressed given all she's gone through, but began quietly nursing the remaining three while under our care.
