Marvin's Story
Oscar was rescued from euthanisa because of a severe case of TVT – Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumor. TVT is highly contagious and is passed on through sex and also through direct contact. This was the first picture we received of Oscar

Oscar before chemo and surgery
He was very resistant to human touch – no doubt he was in a lot of pain and discomfort.

Oscar before chemo and surgery
First we had to do surgery to remove as much of the external tumor as we could – then we had to do chemo to cure what was left inside the penis area.
It took four sessions of chemo for Oscar to be free of cancer – and another three months for him to allow us to touch him. Now he is very friendly to shelter staff but still wary of strangers.

Oscar after chemo and surgery
He is ok with other dogs but doesn’t play much - he prefers to spend more time alone – sleeping in his favourite bowl in one of the bamboo kennels.
