Samson was rescued on 26 May 2022, with an exceptionally large tumor on his head. We couldn't refuse this poor boy despite being full to the brim at the Sanctuary. He was extremely difficult to catch but the thought of the kind of death he would endure was too much for us to contemplate.

Samson's Story
Rescued on 22 May 2022, we were not sure what cancer he had and took him for x-rays at Animal Wellness. We were worried that he would be a candidate for euthanasia if the tumors had invaded too much of his mouth, nasal cavity and skull as was the case with Rocky.

However, Doc Gama confirmed the tumor had not infiltrated the bones, which was good news as with chemotherapy, there is a good chance we can cure him. His blood tests show he is severely anaemic as his blood is going directly to feed the tumor. His blood count was low so we could not start chemo straight away. There is always a risk to life with chemo, so if we didn't believe he would regain a quality of life, we wouldn't try.
Samson is still not eating on his own so we are hoping to build up his strength via IV fluids. He needs chemo asap but it will be dangerous if he doesn't start eating.
He is on pain killers and anti - inflammatory meds so he is comfortable.
