Over the last few weeks we have noticed his fur starting to look a little pink in places which indicates a fungal infection. It's a common problem at the shelter as the dogs live outside and the fungus grows everywhere. The only way to deal with this is to bathe them in mycocide shampoo two to three times a week - which is what we have been doing with Hairy.
He doesn't like the bathing one bit!
We have also begun to try and leash train all the dogs now that we have more staff. We are trying to spend as much individual time with each dog as possible. We started just getting him used to the leash on his neck but he was not ready to walk yet.
Hairy is really shy of strangers but is very friendly with me, Rudylun and and the caretakers. Apart from his skin problem, he has been OK health-wise this month.
He doesn't spend as much time with Hairy as he used to - though they still sleep in bowls next to each other. He has now started a friendship with Judy, but he still loves his bestie Hairy!
